Chado Study

Sheila Fling has studied tea since 1992 in both Japan and the USA with many teachers, primarily Nabeta Tanaka (“Soyu”). She has received 13 licenses, 3 teaching certificates and her tea name “Soshin” (lit. master, heart/mind) from the Urasenke Foundation in Kyoto, Japan. This Urasenke tradition is the largest of the Japanese tea traditions and has spread its study of chado to over 30 countries. It has also been flexibly creative in adapting its six centuries of tradition to modern life.
